Thanksgiving is that wonderful time of year where the whole family gathers around and fights over who gets the turkey’s legs. If you find yourself asking, ‘why can’t the whole turkey be as juicy and sweet as the turkey’s legs? How will I stop this constant fighting and resentment?” You have come to right recipe blog, and while I can’t guarantee the holiday fighting will stop. I can share with you my fall off the bone turkey recipe that will make some people less hangry that they didn’t get a turkey leg this year, and if that doesn’t work we can all join together and only roast Turkey legs next Thanksgiving.
Ingredients
Whole Turkey (Thawed)
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
2 Tablespoon Onion Powder
1 Tablespoon Fresh Chopped Thyme, or 1 Teaspoon Dried Thyme
½ Teaspoon Salt
¼ Teaspoon Powdered Black Pepper
¼ Cup Butter (Softened)
Important Item
For this recipe you will need either a turkey bag, Dutch oven, or a tight tinfoil cover.
Instructions
Step 1 – Remove top oven rack down to make sure there is room for the turkey to fit in and then preheat oven to 350°F 176°C.
Step 2 – Clean turkey and move any inside bits such as neck and giblets, and pat the turkey dry.
Step 3 – In a mixing bowl mixed together the soft butter and all of the seasonings until well combine.
Step 4 – Rub the seasoned butter all over the turkey making sure to get the inside cavity as well.
Step 5 – Place turkey into the oven safe turkey bag and loosely tie it shut with either bakers oven safe twine or using the end of the bag. Make sure to leave a little room for steam to come out of the bag.
Step 6 – Bake turkey according to cooking times on its packaging, and never opens the bag while the turkey is baking.
Step 7 – Once the turkey is finished baking remove it from the oven but leave it in the bag. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before opening the bag and serving.
