Homemade Fruit Cocktail Recipe Without Sugar

Fruit cocktail is a delicious cold treat and easy to carry around in lunches, for toddlers, or to store away for later. It is made using different kinds of fruit mixed together and is healthy. Well normally it’s healthy but the store bought ones are filled with corn syrup, maltodextrin, a lot of sugar, and other additives that it starts to become unhealthy. We always make our own fruit cocktail at home, we don’t use sugar because fruit is naturally sweet and if we do add a sweet note it always honey. It taste the same as the store bought version but our version is wholesome and easy to make.

2 Cups Water

1 Crunchy Peach, peeled, cut into chunks

2 Cups Crunchy Pears, cut into chunks

4 Cups Mandarins, peeled and divided

1 Cup White Grapes, cut in halves

½ Cup Pineapple, chunks

½ Teaspoon Honey (optional)

½ Cup Pitted Sweet Cherries (optional)

Step 1 In a medium saucepan add all of the ingredients and boil until pears and peaches are soft.

Step 2 Boil until desired flavor is reached it should taste mellow and sweet. If the fruits were to tart you maybe have to either boiled until the liquid is reduced by half. If the fruit is starting to get mushy instead of soft but they are still not sweet enough you can turn off the heat and add ½ teaspoon of honey or add honey to taste.

Step 3 Fill in jars and store in the refrigerator for up to one week. Serve chilled.
