Some people will say that you have to get sushi rice in order to make onigiri but you can use any kind of rice you like. In order to make the sesame teriyaki tofu steaks to go with this recipe please follow the recipe in this link (link here).
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Rice
- 4 Cups Water
- 1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar, or Plain Vinegar, or Rice Vinegar
- 1/8 teaspoon Salt
- 3 Teriyaki Sesame Tofu Steaks Sliced
Step 1. Wash Rice in cold water until water runs clear. Note: that if you are not using sushi rice to rinse rice until water is almost clear but not to clear. The yeast in the rice will help to make it sticky.
Step 2. In a rice cooker or stock pot add rice, vinegar, and salt and bring to a boil. Once boiling turn down to a simmer and cook until rice is stick, about 16 minutes. Note: If you are using a rice that is not jasmine or sushi rice you may need to add more water and simmer long to make it sticky.
Step 3. Place rice in Onigiro mold until it’s about half way full, and put a dimple in the with your finger.
Step 4. Place slice tofu steak in dimple and cover the rest of the way with rice.

Step 5. Cover mold with lid and press down. Remove access rice and remove Onigiro from mold. Serve warm.
