Maple Bacon Waffles are a good way to start your day. Made with maple syrup, cream, and savoury bacon. These delicious waffles can be frozen and then popped right into the toaster for a quick breakfast on the run. You won’t be disappointed with these fluffy, sweet and salty wafers of goodness, always at the ready when you need them.
Ingredients
2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
½ Teaspoon Baking Soda
3 Tablespoons Sugar
1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
2 Cups Cooking Cream or Half and Half (Cold)
3 Large Eggs
4 Tablespoons Butter (Melted)
Instructions
Step 1 – Preheat the waffle iron. In a stand mixer, add all of the wet ingredients and mix on low until well combined. You will notice that the butter and the maple syrup turn into small, hard pieces in the cold cream. This is what you want to happen to enhance the maple and butter flavor after cooking.
Step 2 – Whisk in all of the dry ingredients, including the bacon, until the waffle batter has no more flour clumps (you will still have butter, maple, and bacon pieces).
Step 3 – Using a measuring cup or a ladle, add some batter to the waffle iron. Be careful not to add too much; they will fluff up a little. When the waffles are done, the tops should be light-colored and fluffy, and the bottoms should be darker and smooth. Once they are done, you can let them cool completely and freeze them for later, or add your favorite toppings while they are warm and enjoy.
